John Best Racing - Kent's top racehorse trainer

How Hucking Horses works

Hucking Horses is a racing partnership of just twenty shares. Each member owns an equal share in a string of five horses selected by John Best, and enjoys the benefits and privileges of ownership with a reduced financial risk.

Aims

With Hucking Horses, John Best aims to offer a wealth of opportunities for partners to go racing - around 25 each year - while showing a profit over a two-year period.

A string of five horses greatly reduces the risk to each member. Where a partnership of only one horse could be greatly affected if that single horse were injured, the Hucking Horses string guarantees racedays throughout the year. And involvement with five horses multiplies by five your chance of owning a star!

Benefits and privileges

As a partner in Hucking Horses 2007, you'lll have regular opportunities to go racing with the horses of the string, enjoying complimentary owners' badges when they are available and access to the paddock when the horses run. You will also be invited to visit the horses at John's yard, seeing them work on the gallops, and there's an exclusive summer barbecue just for the Hucking Horses partners.

You'll be kept up to date with the latest race entries and jockey bookings, while a regular newsletter keeps you informed of the progress of all the horses. And Hucking Horses also offers the advantage of a single upfront payment with no ongoing or hidden costs.

How it works

Each partner in Hucking Horses makes a single payment of £10,000 to cover all costs. These include the purchase of the horses, their training, vets' and farriers' fees, race entries, jockey bookings and transport costs. A further payment of £5,000 may be required from each partner at the end of the first year, depending on how much prize money has been won, and which horses sold. (The first Hucking Horses partnership is already well on its way to meeting the aim of showing a profit, and no further payment has been asked of the partners.)

As the horses run and, hopefully, win, John Best will constantly assess their value, and choose the opportune time to sell. Each Hucking Horse will be sold at the right moment to make the maximum profit, and all the horses will be sold by the end of the two-year period. Each partner receives his or her share of the proceeds from the sale, plus their share of the prize money accumulated, at the end of the second year.
