As many of you will be aware from John's video blog, our sprinting star Sir Gerry escaped the extreme winter conditions of Kent a couple of weeks ago for the warmer climes of Dubai. Assistant Trainer Martin Smith, who travelled out with him, says he'd settled into his new surroundings and had been working well on the track. On day one of the Dubai International Racing Carnival Sir Gerry took on a field of twelve in the Kayrawan sponsored by Shadwell Farm Handicap over 6f on the all weather track at the Meydan Racecourse. Jockey Ted Durcan settled Sir Gerry at the rear of the field before making easy progress 2 1/2 furlongs out. He took the lead close to home beating nearest rival Musaalem and claiming a prize fund of nearly £44.500. (Pictured above in Dubai with Martin Smith).
